If the retreat is a prototype of village life, the coworking week is a prototype of ways of being. Six ways we could ask the same question: what day do you want to live, and who should live it beside you?
Collected over text in the run-upAn AI weaves everyone's answers into shared blocks — plunge crews, silent rooms, circlingHarbin Hot Springs up the road; plunge, sit hall, cowork barn on site.
Prototype 1
The Blank Page
One prompt, no scaffolding: describe the day you'd love to live.
What they write
What we'd parse
6:00Cold plunge
6:30Sit, 20 min
9:00–12:00Silent deep work
12:30Long lunch
14:00Hot springs
15:00–18:00Pomodoros with a partner
17:30Circling · ×2 this week
21:30Night build
Elicits well: idiosyncrasy, sequence, voice — the things menus can't list.
Misses: people who freeze at a blank page; comparability across answers.
Over text: yes.
Prototype 2
The Day Canvas
Build the day with your hands: a palette of practices, a rail from dawn to midnight.

Tap a block in the palette, then tap a slot to place it. Tap × to remove.
Elicits well: time-structure and tradeoffs; you can see a day overstuffed.
Misses: nuance ("silent" vs "quiet-ish"); fiddly on a phone.
Over text: no.
Prototype 3
The Practice Menu
Structured and aggregatable: how often, when, and would you anchor it for others?
PracticeHow oftenWhenAnchor it
Elicits well: clean data the weaver can actually aggregate; surfaces the accountability supply (who will anchor the 6am sit).
Misses: anything not on the menu; the order-of-morning nuance that makes a rhythm yours.
Over text: partly (as a checklist).
Prototype 4
The Archetype Door
Start from a self-image, then tweak — nobody designs a day from scratch.
Elicits well: fast, fun, high completion; self-image is real data.
Misses: everyone is a blend; presets anchor hard.
Over text: yes (as "which of these four is closest?").
Prototype 5
The Text Workshop
The channel people already answer: a short thread, then a playback you correct.

Retreat week: what's your dream morning look like, before work starts?
Them
honestly? cold plunge, sit for 20, then total silence til lunch. i want to actually finish something
Us
Done. Plunge crew meets 6:45, silent room runs 9–12 — phone jail included. Evenings: circling's on offer at 5:30, most nights. In, sometimes, or out?
Them
in like twice a week. and don't let me skip the plunge

This is the day I'll weave around you. Reply ✎ to change anything.
Elicits well: highest completion; correction-by-conversation; it IS the massage step, not input for one.
Misses: slow per person; needs the weaver AI to be good live.
Over text: it is text.

The Reconciliation Board
Not an elicitation — the payoff. Everyone's answers, woven into one morning.

Tensions the weaver resolved
Plunge wanted at 6:30 and 7:00 → 6:45.
"Silence till noon" vs an 11:00 standup → standup moved to the talk-ok lane.
"Circling daily" vs critical mass → three evenings, protected.
Elicits well: trust — it's proof that stating a preference produces a schedule; it recruits (people see the plunge crew and want in).
Misses: nothing to collect; it needs P1–P5's data to exist.
Over text: as a shared image, gladly.
What we'd ship

More dots = more of that quality. For Effort to answer, fewer is better. P6 collects nothing — it's the artifact, not the ask.
The recommendation
Ship P5 as the channel — the workshop thread is where answers actually arrive, and the blank page (P1) is just its opening message. Ship P3 as the backbone — the schema the weaver fills in from the conversation, including who anchors what. Ship P6 as the artifact — posted on arrival day, it's the moment the questionnaire becomes a village. P2 and P4 become retreat-poster material and a warm-up question, not the instrument.
